Sarah Bergman is chief marketing officer and senior vice president of product development for Phoenix-based Purecare — a leader in wellness-focused sleep essentials. When she isn’t working, she looks for every opportunity to travel, paint, garden, read, cook, kayak and hang with her hubby, Sean.
BedTimes: Tell us about your bedtime routine. What do you do before bed?
Sarah Bergman: Reading — paperback or magazine —is a great wind down for me.
BT: What do you never do before bed?
SB: I guess I’d have to say eat — I’ve never been an evening snacker.
BT: How many hours do you typically sleep?
SB: I need a solid seven hours (and will happily steal an extra if I can).
BT: Pets in the bed – yay or nay?
SB: 100% yay! Anyone who knows us knows we are dog people. At one point we were sharing our sleep space with our 80-pound Rottweiler, our 12-pound terrier and our 65-pound shepherd. Slept like a baby.
BT: Barefoot or socks?
SB: Oooooh — this is a big one for me. Barefoot for sure. No idea why, but I literally can’t sleep with socks on.
BT: What’s on your nightstand?
SB: Oh boy, let’s see. A stack of books and magazines. A tiny handheld reading light. (I’m such a nerd!) A big glass of water. A Chapstick. An extra hair tie. Two remotes. Way too many cords. I am a minimalist at heart and a maximalist in reality.
BT: Are you a napper?
SB: Sure. A good weekend nap?
Absolutely.
BT: What are your best sleep tips?
SB: If you are a light sleeper due to noise, get yourself some sleep ear buds. I have never slept more soundly.
BT: What are your secrets for getting a good night’s sleep while traveling?
SB: Is there such a thing? Ha! I will say that without exception I take my pillow with me when I travel. That consistent comfort makes a huge
difference.
