The editors of BedTimes and Sleep Savvy magazines had a busy week at an upbeat, bustling Las Vegas Market Jan. 18-22. Now that things have settled down post-show and our big market report is headed into production (you’ll find it in the upcoming March issues of both magazines), I’d like to share some purely subjective impressions of the show’s most pleasing sights in bedding showrooms.
Many favorites are ticking related, of course, but as we like to say, the fabrics draw you to the bed like “wrapping paper” on a gift and what’s inside is–equally important ;)
Also, there were some cool-looking new showrooms in bedding halls. Surely, “George and Jane, his wife,” would have felt completely at home in pressure-mapping company XSENSOR’S space-age Jetsonian showroom.
And, Customatic’s first solo showroom made a big impression with its enormous, photographic murals depicting manufacturing scenes, as backdrop for the reception area and adjustable-base vignettes throughout the space.
Down below you’ll find a slideshow of some sights that struck my fancy–there were many more, believe me– during Las Vegas Market in mattress and sleep-product showrooms:
- A favorite mattress panel at this show–Therapedic’s artful palm fronds adorning the new Tommy Bahama Home mattress collection.
- Gel-bed maker Technogel Sleeping used a nifty knit panel mirroring the zoned, semi-solid grid of gel in the bed’s top comfort layer.
- Serta drew the eye with extra-thick, contrasting tape-edges that embellish the redesigned Perfect Sleeper.
- Kingsdown’s new Sleep Haven specialty group with lush border upholstery was stunning when paired with the pale-blue branded headboards.
- The bed dressings at Leggett & Platt had great messages and looked fabulous on a collection of contemporary decorative beds.
- Englander have a
- New exhibitor Natural Comfort, based in Shanghai, paired natural, earthy tones with contemporary design motifs in the Yue Home Textiles collection.
- Restonic’s ComfortCare Select beds really stood out with this graphic spacer-fabric border.
- Simmons retained its unique border design–in a new hue–on Beautyrest Recharge Hybrid. The bands of spacer fabric and domed brand label are an iconic look for the brand.
- Beautyrest Recharge Memory Foam Gel Plus was stunning with a waterfall panel adorned with a whirling-scarf motif.
- E.S. Kluft & Co.didn’t disappoint with this crisp blue-and-white check fabric–100% cotton–on the new Aireloom Nautical collection.
