New York-based trade group the American Down and Feather Council named David Sweet as president, effective Jan. 1. Sweet is general manager of Eurasia Feather Co. He replaces outgoing ADFC president Stephen Palmer, who held the post since 2005.
During his tenure, Palmer is credited with launching a labeling-compliance program, as well as a consumer website featuring information on how to choose and care for down and feather bedding products. He remains on the ADFC board.
Sweet’s 2015 tasks include oversight of an outreach program designed to educate retailers and consumers on the benefits of natural down and feather bedding.
“David has been an active member of the ADFC marketing committee and I know he will do an excellent job leading ADFC through these next few years,” Palmer said.
Commenting on his new role, Sweet said, “In the coming years I look forward to focusing on key industry issues such as labeling compliance, which ensures the quality of down and feather products, and currently boasts a nearly 100% compliance rate in the United States. I also plan to work towards growing ADFC membership by broadening our reach across the full spectrum of industries that produce products made with down and feather.”
