The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Chronic Hazard Advisory Panel, convened to study the effects of phthalates and phthalates alternatives in children’s toys and childcare articles (including crib mattresses), issued its report in July 2014 recommending that CPSC ban additional phthalates.
As a result, the CPSC has issued a proposed rule that would ban DINP, DIBP, DPENP, DHEXP and DCHP in concentrations more that 0.1% in children’s toys and childcare articles.
CPSC is accepting comments on the proposed rule until March 16.
