Malouf, a supplier of sleep accessories and bed frames, was awarded first place in packaging design and honorable mentions in other categories at the 8th International Design Awards ceremony May 4 in Los Angeles. At its website, IDA said it “recognizes and celebrates smart and sustainable multidisciplinary design … in architecture, interior, product, graphic and fashion.” The 2015 awards drew 1,000 entries from 52 countries.
Malouf received the Gold award for the packaging of its high-end Italian Collection bed sheets. The updated packaging uses matte fabric board to create a two-piece box in “traditional Italian-linen style,” a Malouf news release said. Box typography is stamped in silver foil “with the size and color hand-marked to emphasize hands-on artistry.” Inside the box, the sheets are wrapped in white tissue with a hand-signed care card from the product inspector.
“It is a great honor to be awarded first place in one of the most prestigious design awards in the world,” said Emily Bunnell, Malouf creative director. “This level of recognition paints a picture of the incredibly talented people at Malouf whose hard work is now celebrated among the highest circles in the design community.”
