Chicago-based mattress licensing group Englander Sleep Products has signed a licensing agreement with Ultra Industrias SA, a manufacturer based in Guatemala City. Ultra, which was founded in 1983, is owned and operated by Edgar Solares and Luis Pedro Solares. The company currently sells mattresses in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras but, under the new deal, is authorized to make and market Englander-branded products throughout Central America.
“Our new Central America partner is an extremely experienced and independent producer,” said Kevin Toman, Englander president and chief executive officer. “Ultra Industrias employs 135 persons and manufactures between 800 and 1,000 pieces per day and up to 10,000 pieces per month. In the future, the company plans to expand into other countries within the region.”
In addition to manufacturing the Englander brand, Ultra continues to produce its own bedding lines in a 130,000-square-foot factory where it also fabricates foam, springs and wood components. In addition, Ultra owns a transportation firm.
