Mattress major Serta, with headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, has announced that the flexible polyurethane foam used in all its mattresses manufactured in the United States and Canada now are certified through the CertiPUR-US program. CertiPUR-US is a not-for-profit certification program for flexible polyurethane foam used in bedding and upholstered furniture. Certified foams meet rigorous standards for content, emissions and durability, and are analyzed by independent, accredited testing laboratories.
“Consumers can rest confidently, knowing that all Serta mattresses and foundations that are available for purchase in stores and online today contain flexible polyurethane foam that is certified,” said Andrew Gross, Serta senior vice president of marketing. “The comfort of our customers has always been paramount and today, comfort goes beyond physical properties to include feeling good about the products we bring into our homes.”
Mike Crowell, CertiPUR-US program executive director, added, “Consumers’ interest in certified foam for bedding and upholstered furniture has risen dramatically in recent years, and Serta’s participation in the program is a huge milestone for the program as a whole.”
