Innovative Mattress Solutions, the parent of sleep shop chains Mattress King, Mattress Warehouse and Sleep Outfitters, has moved its headquarters from Winfield, West Virginia, to Lexington, Kentucky.
The move doubles the company’s existing warehouse space in Lexington, and adds 52 area jobs in operations, financing, information technology, marketing, human resources and sales. IMS occupies the former facilities of mattress brand Tempur-Pedic, which moved to larger quarters nearby after its acquisition of Sealy.
“It’s exciting to bring my company’s headquarters to my home state of Kentucky,” said Kimberly Knopf, IMS chief executive officer and company founder. “Lexington’s advantageous proximity to our region and its location to our strategic partner, Tempur Sealy International Inc., make it an ideal location for us. Our connection with my alma mater (the University of Kentucky) provides us with opportunities for internships and recruitment. We are grateful for the assistance and support we have received from the state, city and from Commerce Lexington.”
Knopf said her company recently partnered with Tempur Sealy to donate beds to a Lexington women’s shelter, adding, “We look forward to more IMS-Tempur Sealy initiatives to benefit our local communities in the future.”
IMS has storefronts in six states and operates in Kentucky as Sleep Outfitters.
