U.S. mattress sales dipped in the fourth quarter of 2016, compared with the same three-month period in 2015, according to Bedding Market Quarterly, a sales trend report published by the International Sleep Products Association.
Mattress sales and foundations decreased by 2.5%, yet wholesale revenues increased by 4.3%, compared with the same quarter last year. The average unit selling price jumped 6.9%.
For the year, unit sales decreased by 2.2% while the wholesale dollar value of those units increased 1.7%, compared with 2015 levels. The AUSP in 2016 also increased 4% over the previous year.
