Chicago-based mattress licensing group Englander Sleep Products has signed a licensing agreement with manufacturer and retailer Bedding World Co. Ltd., with headquarters in Taipei City, Taiwan.
The deal allows Bedding World to produce and distribute Englander’s entire line of coil- and foam-based bedding collections in China and Taiwan.
Kevin Toman, Englander president and chief executive officer, said in a news release that Bedding World manufactures Englander products in its 180,000-square-foot factory. It wholesales and sells at 34 Bedding World retail stores in Taiwan.
“We’re very pleased with our license agreement with Bedding World and with the growth and success that the company continues to generate,” Toman said. “We look forward to a long partnership with what we believe is a first-class international bedding organization.”
As the first bedding chain store brand in the island country, Bedding World is preparing to go public on the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp. in October and plans to open additional stores in Taiwan and China soon.
Bedding World principals Jason and Mark Chen said their company will be the first mattress firm in Taiwan to be listed and traded on the exchange, which was launched in 1972 and is based in Taipei.
During the signing event at the Winter Las Vegas Market, the Chens also announced the launch of a new proprietary brand, Angela Bedding, which they described as an innovative “smart bed” that uses fiber optic technology.
