Mattress major Serta Simmons Bedding LLC plans to relocate and consolidate its headquarters to a single campus being built in Doraville, Georgia, according to a May 19 report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
On the site of a former General Motors factory, the five-acre plot in the Atlanta metropolitan area will one day house all SSB corporate offices and headquarters, currently contained in four different sites. In Georgia, SSB has corporate offices in Buckhead, Beauty-rest brand offices in Dunwoody, and a research-and-innovation center in Norcross. It also has the longtime Serta brand offices in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Slated to open in early 2019, the 250,000-square-foot campus will consist of a four-story office building, a research-and-development center, and a parking deck, according to documents obtained by the Journal-Constitution. SSB was incentivized by the city of Doraville with an estimated $16.8 million in property tax breaks.
About 120 Illinois employees are expected to receive offers to relocate to Georgia and the additional 380 people already employed in the region will relocate to the new headquarters.
