Corsicana Mattress Co., a major manufacturer of promotionally priced and private-label bedding, has added its first production plant in New England.
The Corsicana, Texas-based company’s newest facility in Newington, Connecticut, will come online in February and employ about 150 people once fully operational. The manufacturing plant occupies 204,000 square feet and is a retrofit of an existing facility.
The addition is part of the company’s plan to expand its production to efficiently service customers coast to coast, according to Chris Baker, chief executive officer. “This new facility allows us to meet the growing demand for all of our products in the Northeastern United States, while ensuring service to our customers remains outstanding and our costs highly competitive,” he said. “Newington provided a strategic location with close proximity to our customers in the region and a community with an excellent workforce.”
The Connecticut site is the company’s 12th manufacturing facility. Corsicana operates manufacturing plants in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington state. Its products include innerspring and specialty foam mattresses that typically retail less than $500 per set. Corsicana’s customer base of more than 5,000 accounts consists of both small independent retailers and large national bedding and furniture chains.
