Sam Malouf, chief executive officer and co-founder of Malouf, with headquarters in Logan, Utah, received the Professional Achievement Award from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University in Logan.
The annual award goes to a distinguished alumnus who displays exceptional success and leadership in his or her field.
In addition to his entrepreneurial success, the award also recognizes Malouf’s passion for corporate social responsibility. In late 2016, he established the Malouf Foundation, a licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to give back to the community. The company and its foundation, in partnership with nonprofit Operation Underground Railroad, have expanded that mission to assisting people, especially children, who are victims of sex trafficking.
Douglas Anderson, dean of the business school and who presented Malouf with the award at an event Feb. 2, said: “One of the things we like especially and that drew our attention to Sam is that what he has done is more than starting a great business that meets a real need. He is using resources and the opportunities that they have to really make a difference in the world.”
