Textile supplier BekaertDeslee USA, based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, cut the ribbon on a new warehouse and renovated company showroom June 21 at its headquarters in Winston-Salem.
The new building is adjacent to the company’s existing plant at company headquarters and provides an additional 87,000 square feet of warehouse space. The project also included the remodeling of the company’s existing product showroom.
According to a company statement, the warehouse expansion enables BekaertDeslee to better serve customers with just-in-time finished goods and frees up space on its manufacturing floor for new investments in production equipment.
“The expansion project … increases our capability significantly and provides us a much greater degree of flexibility,” said Brandon Wells, Bekaert USA general manager, who spoke at the festive event.
Invited guests included BekaertDeslee customers; Mark Owens, president and chief executive officer of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and other chamber representatives; and BekaertDeslee employees. All were treated to a barbecue lunch and tour of the completed facility. At day’s end, a Kona shaved-ice truck arrived to supply everyone with a cool treat.
BekaertDeslee employees 300 in Winston-Salem and has global headquarters in Waregem, Belgium. Total employees number more than 2,500 at 19 manufacturing, sales and service locations around the world.
