Houston-based sleep shop chain Mattress Firm has tapped retail veteran Lorie Silva as chief merchandising officer.
She replaces Craig McAndrews, who had been chief merchandising officer and then chief strategy officer. He left the company last year.
Previously, Silva was director of bedding operations for Jordan’s Furniture, where she was responsible for the bedding operation, including sourcing, sales, training and retail experience with strong ties to customer service and logistics.
In her new role at Mattress Firm, Silva is responsible for the merchandising strategy and ecosystem driving sales to ensure the company has a curated selection of leading brands, according to a company news release.
“Lorie is a proven groundbreaker who led successful merchandising and retail efforts at Jordan’s Furniture,” said Steve Stagner, executive chair, president and chief executive officer of Mattress Firm. “She has a keen understanding of what it takes for a product to sell—from identifying consumer needs to educating associates to communicating product benefits. We’re excited to have Lorie join the Mattress Firm team and support our vision of being consumers’ preferred choice for better sleep.”
Commenting on her new post, Silva said: “I’m thrilled to join the Mattress Firm merchandising team and help drive Mattress Firm’s growth in the sleep category. The success of merchandising at Mattress Firm will continue to help set the company apart and ultimately drive customers into stores for products that improve their lives. I’m excited to join an industry leader that continues to innovate.”
