In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Totowa, New Jersey-based Precision Textiles, a producer of coated, laminated and nonwoven fabrics, has shifted its mattress encasement production to six-sided, fully enclosed encasements required by the healthcare sector. In March, Precision donated a large supply of the impermeable covers to a northern New Jersey hospital. The Englewood, New Jersey, hospital is a 500-bed acute-care facility in an area of the state most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Part of its SlumberShield brand, the encasements provide the top (Level 4), medical-grade protection required in hospitals.
“This is a time of national emergency, and we wanted to develop a solution for hospitals to provide sterile beds for the influx of patients,” said Scott Tesser, chief executive officer of Precision Textiles. “Having the expertise in coated fabrics, it’s important that we take our knowledge of textiles and the health care system to create a safe, comfortable place for patients to recover.”
