Tempur Sealy International Inc.’s charitable arm, the Tempur Sealy Foundation, donated $160,000 to nonprofits serving communities in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lexington, Kentucky-based mattress major also has sewn and donated 10,000 face masks.
Funds and face masks were distributed among the following six charities focused on helping families and children: Lexington Rescue Mission, KVC Kentucky, The Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass, Sunrise Children’s Services and United Way.
“These charities do amazing work every day, but their services have never been more important than they are in this current challenging environment,” said Scott Thompson, Tempur Sealy chair, president and chief executive officer. “The Tempur Sealy Foundation is pleased to continue to provide financial support for the life-changing work they are doing in our community.”
Since the onset of the pandemic, the company has repurposed a percentage of its worldwide manufacturing capability to make relief mattresses, masks and other products needed by the medical and relief community. Tempur Sealy also is producing hundreds of thousands of mattresses, masks and other relief products. Many of these items are donated; the rest are sold at cost.
