Industry supplier Leggett & Platt, based in Carthage, Missouri, has introduced a tongue-in-cheek, six-episode Web series to promote its Quantum Edge Steel Perimeter innerspring unit.
The encased-coil unit, which launched several years ago, eliminates the need for foam encasements when constructing a mattress and is built to create a consistent sleep surface from edge to edge without “the awkward foam-to-innerspring transition” or a “roll-off” feeling, according to the company. It is also described as more durable and more adjustable-base-friendly than foam-encased wrapped coils.
The comedic videos feature two white Spandex-clad characters or “Edge Heads”—“Quantum Edge” who offers plenty of support, travels well and gets the job done; and unreliable and unpopular “Foam Encasement” who certainly gives “letting things roll off of you” a bad name.
In one particularly funny episode, Foam Encasement bombs at speed dating when he tells horrified dates that his biggest qualities are being “squishy” and “holding moisture”–oh, and he has “soft shoulders.”
The idea for the series came about from a research project involving more than 100 retail sales associates, according to an L&P news release.
Kansas City, Missouri-based comedy duo Chad Crenshaw and Davis DeRock, also known as C2D2, wrote and star in the amusing videos. Watch them at MattressEdge.com.
