The expanded roles are part of a recent review of key strategic priorities for the company and are designed to bring the company’s product development efforts closer to retail customers, according to a news release.
Anderson now is responsible for global research and development, along with maintaining his previous responsibilities for North American customer development.
“The evolving marketplace requires that we enhance collaboration with our retailers to bring meaningful innovation to the marketplace over the long term,” said Scott Thompson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Tempur Sealy. Anderson will work closely with the brand marketing teams under Jay Spenchian, global chief marketing officer.
Rusing assumes responsibility for the entire U.S. sales effort, overseeing the development and execution of customer programs to achieve the company’s growth objectives, Anderson said.“Steve has an impressive track record working with retailers to grow sales and profitability and is very well suited to take on this expanded role,” Anderson said. “He will continue to report to me, but he will now have responsibility for the full portfolio of our valuable retailers.”
