C3 Corp., a machinery and engineering services supplier headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, is celebrating 25 years in business this year.
The company was started by electrical engineer Joe Van De Hey and his partner, Marv Wall, in 1994 in Appleton, the heart of Wisconsin’s paper industry. C3’s first engineering projects were done for large paper mills, but as the paper industry faded, the company shifted its focus.
In the mid-2000s, C3 expanded and officially began to work with the foam and mattress industry. It continues to bring automation to its clients with machines for lamination, packaging, assembly and storage, as well as the databases, consumable products and technical services to support them.
In a 25th anniversary video (watch below), Van De Hey, chief executive officer, said a big part of the company’s success has been fostering a collaborative work environment with people who are excited about their work. “It all comes back to culture,” he said. “It comes back to having the right people that know how to work together to get the job done and have the same passion as you do. I think that’s the key — the passion.”
