Logan, Utah-based Malouf, which recently earned certification as a B Corp., or Benefit Corporation, has formed an internal environmental sustainability council comprised of employees from across the company. The council’s goals, according to a news release, are to evaluate the company’s environmental impacts and set environmental goals. These goals include reducing waste, lowering carbon outputs and, also, promoting sustainable lifestyles among employees and the community at large.
“At Malouf, we want to become better every day — for our customers, our community and the environment,” said Chief Executive Officer Sam Malouf. “Our sustainability council is a great example of employees working together to not only create a better experience for our customers, but to build a better world for society.”
Ryan Egbert, a member of the council and Malouf national warehouse manager, said, “(We have started) a conversation about what each employee can do to make a difference. From those conversations, we have already identified cost-saving initiatives that will decrease landfill waste and save our partners and us money.”
The council will analyze its objectives each quarter and publish the company’s progress in a yeary report. More information is available at the Malouf website.
